Throughout 2025, we’ve been using the film THE PICKERS to campaign for our food to be free from exploitation, and for migrant workers in European agriculture to work and live in dignity.
What a year it has been! During a 40-day introductory tour, we handed over some 5,000 oranges in FAIR PICK wrapping, starting conversations with civil society leaders and film audiences alike. We organised or facilitated more than 300 events around the film THE PICKERS, we marched from Maastricht to Brussels, and we were able to present 2,000 individual endorsements for a FAIR PICK to EU politicians and other decision makers.
Looking forward, let’s keep focused on five core policy areas that we:
- the benefits of corporate due diligence, and the need for legislation
- fair prices paid to growers so they can pay fair wages and social costs
- labour mobility and ethical recruitment
- social conditionality of agricultural subsidies
- worker-driven social responsibility.
We have high-profile speakers lined up for a night packed with reflection and recommendations: from Appellando, Centre contre l’esclavage moderne, Fair Food Program, WeWorld, and SOS Rosarno.
The film will be available with subtitles in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, and Greek. The discussion will be in English only with automated captioning.
